The zombies begin with level 20, seem to have at least their hp values randomized (as I took the same thrall for two zombies), and they don't have any equipment-able slots. You can't give them weapons, and you can't give them armor. They are completely naked and don't even get any armor rating from their stats. #4.

General. I picked up some junk armor to throw in my dismantling bench while out traveling with zombies and gave it to one to carry for me…. I noticed he “equipped” it and his armor value raised. Although it didn’t render visually (still wearing the tattered clothes), the armor was in the equipped slot and he had higher armor value.Voidforged Dragon Armor has a higher armor value (chest is 420 vs GB 350). It also has other attributes (chest has a bonus to strength weapon damage). The recipe is found in the Arena where you fight the undead dragon.
