Marlin 795 discontinued.
Ten round mag, semi-auto, 22LR, blued metal but synthetic stock (not as pretty as the 795). Shot well with a variety of ammo and was more accurate than my 10/22s out of the box. Just a comparison to help with the discussion. The 795 is a far better looking piece of equipment, but the extra ±$50 is a consideration. Happy hunting.

My 795ss is silly accurate. So is my old Model 60. The only thing I've done to the 795 is to throw a set of Tech Sights on it, polish the bolt, and fiberglass bedded a steel rod in the forearm and weighted the buttstock a bit.It just wasn't in the same class as my Glenfield model 60. So I sold it (at a profit) and purchased a Remington 597hb. Like the 795, it functions perfectly but still is not in the same class as my old model 60. I let my nephew "borrow" my model 60 after I bought my 795 so now I am looking for another model 60 with the long barrel.Dismantle the action down to bare reciever. 2.take very very fine sand paper and rem oil, and buff the inside of the receiver opposite the ejection port and on top of the inside of the receiver.
