2002 kawasaki vulcan 800 classic. ok, I've read alot of threads on this but nothing helps. My bike runs very well after warming up. The bike pops thru the carb and yes it's thru the carb. When I got the bike it leaked gas into the crankcase (all of it the gas). After rebuild it runs like a badass but still pops at low rpms.I've been having trouble getting the carburetor dialed in on my Vulcan 800. At this point, I'm not sure if my thoughts were correct, or if something else is causing the problem. It's a '99 VN800A with Cobra exhaust. I did the Russian Wolf EPA mod, and also drilled out the plug covering the air idle mixture screw.

Doesn't sound right. The 750's along with the 1500's have used shaft drive for many years. Shaft drive is supposed to be low maintenence and reliable. There is oil in there that needs to be changed periodically. The 750 is a tried and true design that has been in production for years. Rock solid bike overall.

A little rich is normal on these. They have to be by design. Plug fouling is just part of owning a Vulcan 800, and it's way worse if you make short trips or you're just starting the engine to let it run a little then turning it off. The plugs never get hot enough to burn off the carbon and they just foul. That is normal even on a bone stock VN800.

Most bikes would be about 15V at 5000 rpm, but you need to find the specs for your bike. It could be that the meter is off, though. You might want to check the voltage and the connection points with a multimeter to compare.

I have changed the needles, even swapped the floats, checked the ports for debris that might prevent the needle from seating, and it still leaks from the rear carb. I checked the seat with a magnifying lens and there were no burrs or varnish buildup.
