Under the driving section clear EVERYTHING except the 1st (steering) and last option (pause). Be sure assign gas, brake, clutch,shift up and down.Steering wheel . Question ... Nascar Heat 5! No fancy shifter or clutch but the force feedback and pedals feel phenomenal. It is compatible with mechanical shifters if that's an upgrade you're looking to do in the future.

So this is my first time playing the game, and I set up the settings with my steering wheel. But when I load in to a game, my car gets thrown into reverse and it slams on the gas pedal... I also Have my steering wheel set to 900, but for some reason when Im in the game going backwards at like 50 MPH, Its like a contoller, and I selected the steering wheel

It all comes down to your skill and your car setups. ITS HARD TO WIN EVEN ON CASUAL MODE. With all the assists off it's nearly impossible to drive without massive skill. Keep in mind on a controller it's all or nothing for the throttle and about the same for steering.
