I can remove the pin from the drive arm and they drop out but I can not turn the drive disc more than 3 inches one way or the other. Essentially, the knotter will not complete the cycle. I have an older john deere 336 baler that I have had for 4 seasons now and this season its struggling to make a nice tight bale in dry grass hay. The bales are real loose because I keep loosening the cranks on the bale tension to see if that is the problem (as it usually is but thats in wet hay).
The rollers are not supposed to turn in twine balers. They are used because they are harder than the cast needle and act only as guide and wear surface. Now when they get a little worn, twine will be caught between the sides of the roller and needle and cause you lots of stress!
