Dual wielding adds an extra attack so it's a pretty significant increase. You are entitled to your opinion, but most of the time dual-weilding or two handed weapons, on average, deal more damage.

Depends on what you want to do. I think that a paladin/warlock 7/5 is what I would consider a top-tier build alongside sword bard multiclass, str monk tavern brawler, and eb damage rider spam builds. All of those builds exploit bg3 specific quirks and/or itemization to dramatically increase their effectiveness beyond the curve, so to speak.Paladin 1 is a bit different from table top in BG3. At level 1 they get Lay on Hands, Divine Sense, and a homebrew channel oath that is unique to each subclass. Do note that Paladin gets NO SPELLS till level 2. Extra Resources: Check out r/BG3Builds.
