Instantly coolant came out the air bleeder valve hole after unscrewing it with a 13mm wrench and socket. So, the air bleed happened naturally because of the up and down hill driving of about 10 miles. obermd. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Immediate first thought was head gasket. Took the plugs out, all 4 cylinders are moist, 2 middle ones still had coolant. Took off valve cover, maybe a little milky on the cam near the belt, above the water pump. Removed the intake manifold, coolant inside and pooled in 3rd cylinder head. When I looked at my cap it seemed that the seal is created by an o-ring around the "shaft" of the cap that seals against the inside of the coolant tank neck. As it won't "vent" at that low of a coolant level, I believe you are losing it from either the water pump or possibly heater core.
