matsar2000 Discussion starter. 22 posts · Joined 2015. #1 · Jun 11, 2017. Hi all, I have a 95 YJ with a 2.5L. My fuel pressure on the rail with key-on-engine-off is 36 pi. When running at idle the pressure jumps to 80 psi, oscillating between 75 and 85. Disconnecting the vacuum line to the regulator has no effect on the pressure.

Most of the threads I've seen is where the fuel line has been leaking towards the rear of the Jeep. Mine is right where it bends up to the engine bay, it's like a rubber hose.The line coming from the pump (over the top of the motor) goes into the single nipple on the back of the filter, the nipple directly across from that (same diameter) goes to the carb, and the second nipple on that side of the filter goes to the return line. Your problem of starvation is probably from the dual filter setup, i had a 2150 MC on ...You can replace them with bulk FI hose and good hose clamps. If you are replacing the hard lines, you can use a flaring tool to put a little bubble flare on the ends of the lines to give a good grip on the rubber hose/clamps. Same with the vapor hard line. The factory fuel filter, was installed level horizontally at a height that was slightly higher than the inlet of the carb. It also had a hard-line with a loop in it, between the filter and the carb. This prevents fuel from draining back to the pump, and makes start-ups faster. The fuel return line on the factory filter serves 2 purposes.

I took the old metal tank out of my 89 and used a 20 gallon tank for a 94 or 95 YJ with the in tank pump. It needed a supply and return line so I used a corvette regulator mounted to the frame back by the tank therefore only running one line forward to the fuel rail. The only thing different was I was feeding a V8.

Failing Mechanical Fuel Pump. Have a 89 YJ carbureted. Haven't had very long and I have had to replace 2 mechanical fuel pumps. One of the pumps was actually bent. Appears to be unable to withstand the pressure. So, I dropped the tank and replaced two vents. Didn't work, need to replace the fuel pump once more.If it's only leaking while it's RUNNING AT the tank, it's most likely your return line and/or hose clamp. Loosen the back bolts and remove the front to tilt the tank forward so you can inspect. My bet is it's a hose clamp at the fuel pump.
