So I just bought a new TV (a LG OLED) which comes with its own universal remote (the Magic Remote) that you can set up to control other devices in your system. I have set it up to control the Verizon STB and it works fine, but I still find it convenient sometimes to use the Verizon Universal Remote (P265 v5) to access certain functions on the STB.

I think I fixed it by unplugging the box, disconnecting the remote (hold the buttons to sync it out of range of any box, then push them again so the light blinks red), rebooting the router, plugging the box back in and spamming the menu button on the remote as the box booted. Then I paired the remote and it's been working since.
