Fairly easy put a slightly upgraded 212ish motor on a kart using a 30 or 40 series CVT and properly geared do 45MPH - but reverse adds a bit of a challenge. They do make a Chinese F/N/R gearbox that does solve the problem, and the ratio inside is decent - 1.3:1 in F and 2.6:1 in R.
