Lol. After taking it to the dealer: Debris had gotten stuck in the "active grille", preventing it from closing. This caused the engine computer to be unhappy. So: If your check engine light comes on after you've been thru a snowstorm, or mud, or other icky conditions: It may your active grille. Vehicle: 2016 Outback, 2.5L engine.
